From targeting the right users in your email campaigns to tracking results, SugarChimp makes it easy for marketers to stay on top of their work. One of the most useful features of Mailchimp is post-send actions, which allow businesses to streamline their marketing efforts and increase the engagement of their audience. In this article, we’ll take a closer look at the benefits of using post-send actions with SugarChimp and how they can enhance your workflow.
What Are Post-Send Actions?
Post-send actions allow you to change and update fields after an automated campaign takes place. These actions can be taken in both the classic automation builder and in Mailchimp's Customer Journey feature.

How Are Post-Send Actions Helpful?
- Increase automation. Post-send actions on Mailchimp allow you to automate your marketing work- which saves time and resources. With post-send actions, you can quickly communicate back to CRM teams when offers have been made, campaigns have been sent, or certain criteria have been met.
- Increase engagement. When you use post-send actions to send more targeted follow-up emails, subscribers are more engaged and interest in your products/services grows.
- Improve relationships. Being able to communicate actions back to the CRM allows user-facing teams to take action based on marketing data.
Example of Post-Send Actions
Here are a few ways we (and our customers) are using post-send actions with SugarChimp:
Sample 1: Using SugarChimp, Mailchimp has received an update that changes our Status to Active. Our customer journey sends a couple emails, one which offers a training to the customer. After sending the second email, the customer journey updates the Training Offered field to Yes, which syncs back to the CRM via SugarChimp. On the CRM end, additional workflows and notifications can kick off based on this change.
Sample 2: Mailchimp begins a customer journey when a new subscriber joins. If the customer opens the email, the customer journey is directed to update the Hot Lead field to Yes. This data syncs back to the CRM via SugarChimp, which alerts sales teams to manually reach out to the lead since they've shown engagement and interest.
When Can I Start Using Post-Send Actions?
